Valentine’s Day Stack for Young Kids

These are our favorite books to read with my youngest kid around Valentine’s day. And though the holiday is officially over, we will keep on reading them!

The Littlest Things Give the Lovliest Hugs by Mark Sperring and illustrated by Maddie Frost is a cute, rhyming story, about how kids- of all species- give the best hugs. My kids love to see and name the different creatures featured, and the rhymes are super fun to read aloud.

I Love you Just Like This by Lillian Jaine is for all the Elmo fans out there. In this story, Elmo’s mom recounts all the things that she loves about Elmo. It’s full of Sesame Street characters, counting, and rhyming fun!

I Love You Through and Through by Bernadette Rossetti-Shustak and illustrated by Caroline Jayne Church is so sweet! The narrator tells all the things they love about a little kid. It’s cute and heart warming, a simple love story.

What Does Baby Love is a fun lift-the-flap book by Karen Katz. In it, baby hear and sees things that she loves. From cuddly puppies, to snuggles from mom, baby is full of love! My kids loved to lift the flaps in this book to see what was under!

Counting Kisses is another Karen Katz book we love. In this one baby is tired and cranky, and those who loves baby gives lots of kisses- counting down from 10 to 1 kiss as baby gets ready for bed and goes to sleep.

Sandra Boynton’s Snuggle Puppy is a long-time favorite in our house. We love this one because the song- in which the adult tells the kid they are loved- is silly and so so fun to sing. We have sung it fast and slow, low and high, softly and loudly.

We hope you enjoy reading these with those you love, and if you have older readers, check our our Valentine’s Day stack for early readers!
