Be A King: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr and You by Carole Boston Weatherford and illustrated by James E. Ransome is excellent if you have kids at different ages who need different things in their reading and learning. Most of the pages in this text have a few simple sentences that are excellent for helping young kids understand ways that they can keep alive the ideas Dr. King advocated for. My 5 year old really enjoyed connecting the text and words on each page spread.

Older readers may recognize some of these images from their other learning about Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement. Additionally, there is a page spread at the end of the book that is perfect for older readers- sharing more about Dr. King, his work, and his legacy. This section was excellent for my 8 year old who already knows about Dr. King.
I am so grateful that we have had this book as a resource this month and hope you all enjoy it!
